Mary Sarah Agliotta, Celebrant
Mary Sarah believes that life is a journey, filled with possibilities, portals and passages, inviting us to dance and dream, grieve and hope. It is her desire to inspire others to connect with lifes’ many faces through the use of ceremony and ritual. In her practice of Celebrancy, Mary Sarah draws from her knowledge of multi-culturalism, comparative religion and psychology which she has studied through the years as both a literary and performing artist and a practicing Jungian Psychotherapist. She is fascinated with the notion that Universal themes exist within all the worlds' religions. Themes which connect and unite us and bring us new information to help us understand ourselves. As a Celebrant, she is very interested in creating and combining rituals and traditions, opening the possibilities of seeing established forms with new eyes. In her Ceremonies she has worked with Native American Spirituality, Judaism, Muslim and Islamic Traditions, Hinduism, African-American Rituals, Nature Rites, Humanism, Buddhism, TAoism, Shintoism and Portuguese, Celtic and Spanish Catholicism. Mary Sarah feels that ceremonies themselves offer us the chance to become actively engaged in life in a transformative way. In the creation of ceremonies, we can reflect on who we are, honor who we’ve been and envision who we want to become. This, she believes allows us to create emotional and personal meaning which transcend space and time. Her goal is to rebirth the concept that life's many moments of change and transition allow us the ability to open the door to a deeper dialogue with ourselves and our communities, ultimately bringing us to a deeper connection with life and each other.
